The lack of proper wind in the area causes scent to distribute in an odd fashion for a location that is supposed to be outside, more like ripples in water, and so she smells him about the same time as he notices her and raises her head in alert.

It's the bit of wolf that catches her attention first, and then the bit of death, setting her on edge. That doesn't belong together, not if things are right. She stands, careful to keep overt aggression out of her body language, but clearly projecting caution.

The wolf that end up circling closer to Lyall is significantly larger though not overly so, lean and grey and effortlessly elegant in a manner that speaks of danger lying underneath. (It's nice when at least one of your forms looks impressive.)
