Hello, Nan Nan.

[The voice that speaks up sounds very young - three or four, perhaps.]

How are you, Nan Nan? I have not seen you in a long time. Your bag of sweets ran out. And Mum only lets me have a little of it each day. So it has been very long. You should tell uncle Shawn to pick me up so I can visit you. [She sounds very important there, trying to emulate her mother's 'you should eat your veggies' voice.

Also look how sneaky she is being! This totally isn't about another bag of sweets!

A pause. Trying to think of what else to say.]
Auntie Ellie said that you will die soon and then she can have your cottage. But I don't want to visit auntie Ellie. Her cookies aren't sweet.

I think Shawn should have your cottage when you die. Mum says he's poor.

[...How does Mum always end calls with Nan Nan...]

I really need to go now.

Mum says hi.

[Awwwwwwwww look at Nanny's precious little angel she's so big and grown up and using the phone like a proper adult what a cutie.

...Except, not the phone. Hmm.

Still adorable, though.

Lottie, it's Nan Nan. Is Mummy there with you?

[Okay, sooooo Nanny needs to have a conversation at some point, because children should not be on the network unsupervised.]

That's because she knows you love me, even when you're too busy to talk! And you know I always love to talk to you and you can always speak to me.

That's right! On your phone you have to put in an extra special number to get to Nan Nan. But if you use it too many times then it'll stop working, so only for emergencies, okay, my sweet? [Little white lies to children don't count as lies.]
