It's not how it is, that's the point. Might be where you're from, but it's not here, and it's not where I'm from. It's not your fault you were born, so blaming you is pointless.
[No, it's not, is it. He doesn't want to be considered useless, someone who spends too much time and energy ducking away. He'll have to learn new rules. Figure out how to fit in here.]
I'm working on figuring out how it is here.
And nobody blames me for being born. Doesn't change that you're worth more because you're homid.
That's not how it works for us. The only people worth more are the ones with the skills for the job. If anything, Metis and lupus are worth more than us lot cos there's less of them in the tribe.
[Where, sure. There's way too few lupus around, meaning that a lupus cub will be received with more excitement than a homid one - though the first change and discovery of both will be cause for happiness in the tribe, with their numbers so low these days.
Which is also why some metis are allowed to be there, too.
But the way Rowan said that it sounds like-] Your tribe tries to get the numbers of metis up to the number of homids? [Is that stupid desperation or-]
Obviously not! [Sure, their tribe isn't necessarily the best at not sleeping around, but they have a better idea than many about making sure that slip ups in the litany don't mean that there's more Metis running around.] We end up taking a fair few in though, so it ends up that way anyway.
And it works just as well with Metis. Everyone has something they can do better than anyone else.
...so to boost numbers. [That makes sense - if it's about quantity in the present, not quality or future, it's not a bad plan to try and get as many metis as possible.
Begs the question if Glass Walkers are so focused on the Weaver because they try and balance that as a tribe they're more likely to fall to the Wyrm with that many metis...]
Of course. Every metis should be able do one or more things well, maybe better than others. [That's how you earn your keep, so to speak.]
But [...] everyone knows that it's that way, even if your tribe and the Children and the Gnawers don't like to admit it.
[That's what he's been told before, that those tribes are way too indiscriminate about whom they adopt, and he's been told stories about how they paid for it. ...Bone Gnawers and Children of Gaia, mostly, but the Glass Walkers did get lumped in there even though the cautionary tales about them took different directions.]
[The best that he can do for himself is to do well by the pack and the sept, because what better thing could he have than a pack, since he'll never have a mate or children?]
Having a pack will be good for me.
[It's good for any Garou, no matter the breed, and perhaps more so for all the reasons that have already been listed.]

Nobody says that. It's just how it is.
[And then, very quickly after:] But I will
try my best tobe strong and productive and contribute to the pack, don't worry, I'll be good for the pack.no subject

It won't be an issue. I'll be good for the pack. You don't have to worry.
[He knows he needs to try twice as hard as a homid or lupus, and by Gaia he will. He won't botch this chance at having a pack.]
