All the world seems in tune on a spring afternoon~
Who: Fai and Feliks, Timo and Björn
What: NOT a double date, okay? Definitely not. It's not as if they're couples, or dating, they're just two couple of best friends hanging out together. Yep.
When: Sometime toward the end of the term, post game closing.
Warnings: ...copious amounts of awkward?
***
The end of the term approaching had always felt strange to Fai. On one hand, previous years it had meant that he was soon going to get to see Yuui, since they always went to Italy to see the family for as long as possible, but at the same time it had meant having to deal with... well, his parents. And it hadn't always been easy. This year, of course, Yuui hadn't been an ocean away while during the term, so there wasn't anything like that to look forward to, but on the other hand... well, things were getting better. After all the excitement during the year, Fai had a feeling that perhaps their parents were revaluing certain things. He couldn't know for sure, of course, but.... well, there was hope.
The point regardless being that it was full of mixed and confused feelings, especially since it now meant parting from the kind of friends he'd never had before in his life. And so, with just a few weeks left, he wanted to feel like he was making the most of them.
How he had decided on who to rope along for this little outing was a bit unclear - there wasn't so much thought in it as feeling. And Timo was pleasant, easygoing company, he had a sense of humor, and he was fun to be around. Björn... admittedly wasn't very extroverted, but Fai had found that the two of them, despite seeming so very dissimilar, got along incredibly well. Even when he said nothing, Fai found his presence calming, once you got past the way he always looked like he was scowling at the world. And Feliks was Feliks, no explanations really needed. Now that he was no longer convinced that Björn was a ghost, Fai figured this was a mix that wouldn't go sour easily. Not too big a group, for both Feliks' and Björn's sakes, but a bit less awkward than a one-on-one outing.
And it was a picnic because Fai liked picnics. He'd asked them all to make something to bring along, which should result in an interesting mix of food. He had himself (with substantial help from Yuui) thrown together a number of small Italian dishes, and a batch of cannoli to boot. He had no idea what people ate on the Swedish side of his own family - imaginiation suggested bear - but perhaps Björn and Timo would make something? Or maybe not, it hardly mattered what they made as long as they liked it.
Smoothing out the spread over the soft green grass, Fai turned to beam at his friends, gesturing at them to sit down.
"This is the best kind of contact with nature in my mind. Way better than old Jackrum's horrible lessons, that's for sure."

LIKE THE MAIN THREAD OK?

So the bag that he carried was heavy, full of food for them to share, but it would be worth it. He sat down easily, beaming at Fai as he set the bag down and started to unpack it. It wasn't just things from home, he'd also tried his hand at making some things that were more universal, cookies and some sandwiches as well. "It's much easier to enjoy it without someone shouting at you." He agrees with an easy laugh, shifting to make a space for Björn between him and Fai and then looking up at him with an inviting smile. He wants him close so he can use him as a back rest, because what's the use of having a big cuddly bear as a best friend if you can't use them as a cushion?

In a completely broshippy way, of course.

That is Feliks's excuse as he drapes himself on the ground with Fai's leg for a pillow, absently adjusting his skirt length to be a little more decent lying down. It's also got a little to do with how seeing other people being close and intimate makes him need a little reassurance that he has a place, too, right here where they are.
"Oh my god, Jackrum's kind of a badass and all? But screw capture the flag in the rain. So gross."
He perks up a little, looking the picnic basket over. "So like, what did you guys bring?"
no subject
He happily accepts all the completely platonic clinging, immediately taking this as an opportunity to fuss with Feliks' hair. And he knows, too, that even something like this can stretch Feliks' nerves just a bit, so it's a good way to show that he's there and he's got his back.
"I brought Italian food... which was made with the help of Yuui, so I promise it won't poison anyone." A small laugh. "I've got some mini pizzas, home-made cannelloni and ravioli, and some crostini with different toppings. Oh, and more cannoli than you can shake a stick at." He beamed, fishing around a little bit in his own basket. "Oh, and some really good wine." Never let it be said that he wasn't going to use his powers to procure alcohol just because last time went somewhat badly. Besides, it was just some wine, right?

"Ah, let me see, I have coffee, of course, and we brought sugar and milk for you two, and then there's pulla to go with the coffee and rye bread and some ham, cheese and salad to make sandwiches with, and I had a go at making Karelian pasties too but I'm not sure how well they turned out. I don't think they're as good as mum's. And cookies and some other sandwiches too. So help yourselves!" He points to each in turn, but the coffee flask is already in hand, and as soon as he pulls out two cups from his bag he'll pour a cup first for Björn, and then for himself, and then settle down with his back against Björn's side. As much as he'd like to settle in his lap, it's not really appropriate with friends, and besides, then he'd be in the way of Björn eating. Here he's still in the way of him getting to the food, but Timo can hand him anything he wants and at least he won't be eating over him.
"Was your coat still fabulous by the time we finished, though?" Timo chuckles, going back to the earlier line of conversation. "Last time my clothes were so muddy it took two washes to clean them off!" But he does tend to rather... throw himself into games like that.

Never say that he's not going all out with this.
He just worries a bit that they won't be able to even try everything, and what should they do with all the leftovers...

He looked curiously at the assortment of food, sitting up a little bit to peer better before flopping right back down.
"I like didn't bring too much," he said, sounding proud of his pragmatism. "Just, like, some pierogi. And gołabki, and like, some paluszki for snacking, and like, some bread and smoked cheese and pickled veggies and kiełbasa. And makowiec, because like, if you don't like poppy seeds, we totally can't be friends." He paused, in thought. "...And a cheesecake."

"So basically we have enough food to feed an army? Probably good, if what mom says about teenage boys carrying around black holes on the inside is true." He started to pack up his things, including a small mountain of napkins so they wouldn't get cannelloni fillings all over themselves.

Snuggling back into Björn he looks at him with an adoring smile as he picks a plate for him. "What do you want, Nalle?" No one here will make wife comments (hopefully) so he feels free to dote on his friend. Besides, he's still sitting between Björn and most if the food.
no subject
Not that he minds seeing all those different foods. And even less having Timo snuggled up to him in company that obviously cannot make any comments about being too close.
The question about what he wants to eat, however, he will have to ponder for a bit, just looking at things. There is just. So. Much.
Sorry, work and game tags happened
"God--traitor, traitor, I totally thought we were partners in crime!" he choked out, hiding his face against his best friend as if he expected Fai to defend him from... Well, from Fai.
When he did catch his breath, he grinned over at the other boys. "I guess the kitchen at Xavier's is big enough for that. What do you think, kotku?"
<3
"Sounds wonderful to me. We could like... try mixing cooking styles, see what happens! Yuui says fusion cooking is the big 'it' thing in restaurants nowadays." Though it was possible that no place yet offered the Scandinavian/Polish/Italian fusion yet. He eyed the things the others had brought with interest. Not everything looked exactly appertizing, but he was willing to try everything at least once - especially since wine would be involved. "Okay, Feliks, pass me something with too many consonants to start with~." Tact, what was that? Was it from Finland? Could you eat it?
no subject
And since Björn isn't forthcoming with what he wants, Timo decides to serve himself, pulling himself away enough that he can lean over and help himself to some of Feliks and Fai's offerings, eager to try both. He laughs at what Fai says, shaking his head. "Is that what our fusion cooking style will be called? 'Too many consonants'?"
no subject
And while speaking he will reach over and steal some of what Timo is just taking for himself with the most innocent expression that he can muster.
no subject
Giggling a little, and assuming that 'too many consonants' had meant 'Polish', Feliks grabbed a plate and started filling it up for Fai. "We could start a restaurant with a name that, like, nobody could ever pronounce, not even us!"
no subject
Also, seeing Björn solving his food situation so elegantly, Fai waits until Feliks has picked something up and then grabs his hand and snatches it from there... with his mouth. This of course also involves nipping at Feliks' fingertips and grinning at him, checking if he can make him blush like that. "Aslo, all the mutant-made decor in that place, right? Björn could do his thing, and like professor Reki could do cool things with paintings, and then Pamela could cover the whole place in flowers."
no subject
"I guess including a pronunciation guide would ruin the point." He laughs. "You won't even need to charm the critics into giving us rave reviews, it sounds like the sort of place people would call 'trendy' and they'd be queueing round the block to get in!"
no subject
oyest friends. Yep. Maybe not a conscious one, but still. For now he'll take the plate that is offered to him and carefully pick through the dishes, tiny pieces of everything, trying things out."Timo c'n design the place." Because he is really good at that, Björn has found. He really should go into that direction with his job. Maybe he can learn to control ice to the point where they can work at the ice hotel in the winters...
no subject
So naturally the thing to do is pout a little, then resettle himself a little more comfortably in his lap. Victory? Well, at least he gets what he wants.
"Of course it would be trendy, with all that going for it," he boasts. "We could like, get Yuui to come and play sometimes, too!" And mess with people. It isn't his fault people were so fun to poke at, all right?
