1. You are a kid! Maybe you are a toddler in nursery or already in pre-school, or anywhere in between, but you are a kid who comes here more or less regularly, interacts with other kids and the teachers and the nurse and is dropped off in the morning and picked up sometime later during the day.
2. You are an adult! Maybe you are a teacher, or doing an internship, or you are a parent or older sibling picking up their kid, or the nurse or whatever an adult would do in such a place...
...of course you can change which one your muse is depending on whom they thread with.

And as for scenarios - you can of course do whatever you want, but a few ideas:
I. The first day in kindregarten. Being left behind by mommy or daddy, encountering new friends, so many things to discover...
II. Nap time! Maybe you just need to tell your friend this story before falling asleep. Or your teddy has gotten lost. And as for adults, oftentimes the parents will be present for the first few days of nursery to ease their child into things. Don't glare too many daggers at that other parents who is easing their child into the situation at the same time, you might make a child cry... Cuddling with their child is a much nicer option, yes?
III. Playground! Maybe you build a sandcastle together, or maybe you kick each others sandcastle down, who knows? Or maybe you are in the crafts room, or in the dolls corner, or you are having a class...
IV. Uh oh. Something isn't going too smoothly, and you have to mend things with another child or explain yourself to a teacher or maybe discuss a case with another staff member, or even call in the parents...
V. Field trip! Or maybe it is some holiday, or a birthday/conception day is happening in your group, or or or...

[For the moment, he assumes that this must be one of his two youngest sons (it's bad to have your kids in your own group, he's been told before, but so far he's seen no issues arise from it so he saw no reason to not have Ambarussa and Ambarto put into another group) and just lets her use him as a shield, continuing to dry the dishes and stack them on the table next to him.

He only really looks down at the redhead when the child is not joined by a second one even after half a minute has passed.] Where is your brother?

[She looked up to him, eyes wide but puzzled.] I don't have a brother!

[She steps back from his legs, forgetting that she is supposed to be hidding so that he can get a better look at her.]

[His eyesbrows go up at the sight of her - this is the first time that he sees a redhead elf that is not related to him. He quickly reigns the reaction in, though, putting down the plate and crouching down to not tower over the child so much.]

You are new here, aren't you?

I'm new! [She smiles to him suddenly shy.]

What group are you in?

[Not to send her back there directly, but to know who would be looking for her, and where to eventually return her to should she be lost.]

Group three, I think? [She sort of remembers her group. It certainly wasn't two. She hadn't been playing much attention.]

I'm playing hide an' seek.

And your name would be...?

[They're also here to get some manners into the kids, after all, and teaching them to introduce themselves is a thing.]

[Oh yeah, that.] You a stranger? I'm not suppost to tell my name to strangers or dwarves! Except Kili. I like Kili. We play together all the time and he gave me a cookie from his house!

No, I'm a teacher.

[And okay, Kíli, he knows the boy. It's really hard to not at least know about him with how much trouble he causes.] You and Kíli are friends?

[ Makalaure is most distressed - Feanor and Nerdanel usually do most of their own child raising, so to be told that he is to be left with other children and strangers is most distressing, and the normally fairly easily placated elfing is a wailing clinging siren attached to Feanor's legs ]

[He'll be picked up after a bit of this, and Fëanáro sits down on the low bench that is part of the coathanging system, placing his son on his knees, simply looking at him.

He's not going to admit that his brother was right with claiming that they should have their children start attending some kind of outside groups earlier than they did, but really, if this is how it is going to be they impossibly can wait until school starts. So the child's reaction actually only seals that he'll be staying here today.]

[ The yodelling strident screams die to unhappy hiccups as he's picked up, and he reaches out to cling tightly to Feanor, looking up with the best puppy dog face he is capable of ]

Did... did Cano do bad? Is that why you don't want me?

We enjoy having you very much, little one. [His hand smoothens out a more unruly lock on Makalarë's head, trying to console him without softening his words too much. At least Nerdanel is here with him, she tends to be better at the whole reassuring part.] But you have grown to be old enough to come here now, like your brother before you. You aren't too little to not be able to leave our side, not anymore.

Oh, darling. You didn't do anything wrong. And of course we want you. Always.

You're hear so that you can learn new things, things even Atto and Ammë can't teach you. You'll get to make friends and learn new songs and when you come home, you'll be able to tell us the most wonderful stories. And you can share what you do with Maitimo, since he was here before you.

Besides. I have something special for you. [She presses into his hand a little figurine that depicts both of his parents.]. Keep this with you, and you'll always have Atto and Ammë with you.

[There's an elfling watching Fëanor, and it's not one of his. Glorfindel is on his very best behaviour, though, staying silent as his sea green eyes bore a hole in the back of his cousin's head. He wants something, and he's willing to do what it takes to get it, even resisting the urge to fidget. Fëanor had better appreciate the will power that takes. He will wait as long as it takes.

Or at least until dinner time.]

[He's really hard to miss, and after a while Fëanor turns to look at the boy.]

[His patience has been rewarded! Glorfindel lights up, eyes and smile bright as he shuffles a bit closer. But he still holds back from jumping up or moving too much.]

What kind of story?

[He's not sure what to think of this request, but will go with it at least until he does, because the children can be more random than adults, and he has a much higher tolerance for that with them than he would have with an adult.]
