[Elrond hasn't turned the page since Elros came close enough to sense, reading one sentence over and over - and still not taking it in. He listens to Elros' excitement with jealousy biting away at him, but still refuses to look up or finally put the book aside and admit that he missed his brother.

Until Elros leans over him, and Elrond quickly snaps the book shut, hiding it from his twin's prying eyes.] A book. [Although, if Elros realises that Elrond hasn't covered the cover he might notice that it's Sindarin poetry.]

You don't really think that that's interesting, do you?

[Which gains him a sharp look from Maglor, but he's not even looking into that direction right now.]

Come, I'll show you what we got so you know what you'll have to match when you're going with Maedhros next week!

[It also gains him a sharp look from his brother which Elrond hopes says that 'it's more interesting than you'. He might need some more practice on this.]

I won't be going next week. [Because when he decides that if they can't go together he won't go he sticks to it, unlike someone else.]

But it's your turn! You should go, and then when we both have learned enough we can go together!

[Because taking two learners along might be too much, but if one of them is already learned enough, or both of them are learned enough...

And no, Elrond, he's not buying this.]

But Elrond's not going to concede it to Elros. Not yet, anyway. Let him be grumpy for a while longer.]

Are you sure you wouldn't rather go alone? You seemed quite happy to go off this morning.

Because we went hunting! I haven't been in the forest in ages, and we went really, really far!

[He's hanging over his brother now, one arm dangling over each shoulder and his cheek resting on his own shoulder so he can look at him, at least someone. This way, he misses the pained wince of their caretaker at the mention of not really being able to leave the castle, though he could have known that it would be there if he had really thought about it.]

[Elrond does catch it, although he barely looks, not wanting to draw attention to him.

He doesn't push Elros off, but he doesn't draw him in closer, still sulking. He's weakening, though. He always does. He can't ignore Elros.]

I'm glad you had fun. [Bitingly.]

And next time you will have fun.

[Still hanging over his brother. Come, stop sulking, it's not comely. He lightly bounces his head against his brother's as he speaks.]

[Giving in, he buts his head back against Elros' with a little more force. He's still cross, but... He missed him.]

That's assuming I give in.

[A pause, and then he finally looks up.] Did you really have fun? [Tell him what happened.]

Of course!

[He laughs and finally lets go, hopping onto the table (being ushered off the table and onto a chair by Maglor) and starts talking. There will be a fairly detailed, if selectively so, recounting of the trip here.]

...and then the bird flew right into his face and his friend had to catch him or he would have fallen over. And then I shot it! [Which was pretty great - sure, the bird had already been disoriented, but he had still managed to hit a moving (wildly so) prey!]
