[meme] The everyone survived AU

Due to recent events in the movie world, it seemed like we needed one of these again...

THE ARDA AU MEME

{source}

All the AUs! With classics as the obligatory and all important

> EVERYONE LIVED AU. Maybe you're at Thorin's festive coronation or a drinking game between Boromir and Haldir after the end of the War, or Fëanor and Thingol finally talk to each other. Maybe Belladonna comes with her son on adventures, or Maedhros spends some very awkward hours at Elrond's wedding. U know the drill.
> but let's not forget the staple COFFEESHOP AU either
> or the no less important WHAT IF AU: What if the Silmarils were glowing bunnies? What if Bard hadn't managed to take down Smaug? What if Maeglin had not betrayed Gondolin, what if Galadriel had accepted the One Ring? What if Sam had a giant afro?
> and really any other AUs that you can think of.

As a note, since not everyone has seen BOFA yet and some people care about not being spoiled, please make a note in your top level comment/the subject line of a comment if you might bring up spoilers in threads or don't want to be spoiled, something like "bofa spoilers yes" or "bofa spoilers no".
takingback: (♚ a tale of fire and ruin)

(YES a+ totally fine, and let's be real here "some how some way" more like "by being himself and lacking all sense of direction" I mean... who even gets lost in the Shire. twice.)

[This is why Thorin hated official visits. Hated them. With a passion. He was sure he had followed the right path, of course he had, and yet here he was -- surrounded by trees, trees and more trees, all looking exactly the same. Twisted, tall, with wide boughs and tops rising up far above him, looming and old, with an uncomfortable feeling like the trees themselves are keeping an eye on him.

It is that feeling which perhaps cuts the surprised edge when he hears words, coming from above him -- but even through the slight startling, he's still a dwarf, and the heir to the throne for that matter, so he shows none of the surprise, instead stilling, the very picture of the stories of dwarves, stone-like and strong, turning his gaze upwards.

And beholding the tiny little creature there.]

... No. [Short, to the point, and entirely untrue.]

TO MAHAL'S BALLS THEN YEEE I mean, I'll stop the terrible jokes

( you're welcome lmfjahsd but excellent, thank you ♥! )

[ That forest creature is unmistakeably an elf, if a bit on the soft edged side of elvish looks and not even half their usual height, with rounded cheeks and wide eyes, and blond hair reaching his shoulders. Currently adorned with a stray leaf or two, and even a smallest of twigs. Ever the presentable Prince of the Woodland Realm, source of all pride and joy to his father (hah!).

When no threat comes, Legolas leaps down to a lower branch, hooks his knees on it and swings down to hang upside down. It shakes slightly, but the one leaf that falls is from his hair.

It's the first dwarf he sees up close, more than that it's the very first dwarf he ever gets to talk to, so his curiosity grows beyond any measure with every passing second. It's what has him simply ignore entirely the tension he sees and senses: there is no need for it, after all, Legolas is no threat! In fact he can be quite helpful in this particular pickle, knowing the forest as well as he does. ]

You seem lost to my eyes!

[ And to show how well he means, he grins bright. ]
takingback: (♚ never been nothing)

uh I think you mean amazing jokes

(oh my god that is the most beautiful thing thank you for linking it)

[To be fair, while this is hardly Thorin's first visit to the Elvenking's Realm, his visits have always been short, stilted and over as soon as common courtesy allows, and during these visits, his dealings with Thranduil's people have been scarce... and so when for Legolas, this is his first dwarf meeting, for Thorin, it's the first time he has laid eyes on an elfling.

An elfling that is making fun of him. Of that, he is at least 70% certain.]

Then your eyes must be mistaken. I know exactly where I am going.

[Technically, not a lie -- he does know what his destination is... he just doesn't seem to know how exactly to get there.]
