[Celebrían knows just how close she'd been to deaths door but she'd held on, nibbling at lembas (sometimes at Elladan's insistence) that her mother had given them for the trip to keep her strength up until they'd made it. She'd heard other members of their party whispering though, sure that she wouldn't make it, one of her ladies crying for fear of it.

She's curled up comfortably now on the balcony when he knocks, a light blanket draped over her shoulders until the cold stops bothering her so once her strength properly returns.]

I am on the balcony. [She calls towards the door, the statement doubling as a yes. She's absolutely feeling up to tea, it would help fend off the chill. As would going back inside but the smell of the air near the sea, she wants to enjoy it a bit longer.

[ He pushes open the door and beams to see her on the balcony looking so much better, before carefully backing into the room pulling a small trolley on wheels ]

I made it just the way Erestor always does, so hopefully it tastes as good as when he makes it. Granduncle Arafinwe may er. Get some complaints from his kitchen staff however.

[A trolley? Really? She can't help but smile at the sight. He's certainly gone all out and she's glad that she answered him when he'd knocked, it would have been a shame for that effort to go to waste.]

I'm sure it is perfect. [It makes her laugh at the thought of just what he could have done.] And I doubt very much he will mind. Just in case though, you did apologize?

[ A trolley! With tea and toast prepared to Erestor's exacting specifications. No really, he sent written instructions ]

I certainly hope so, Erestor was quite clear in his notes that if his instructions failed it was on my head!

[ The phrase 'only an idiot could muck this up' may have appeared a few times ]

Uh. I will if he finds out? [ Aheh ]

[He takes such good care of her and she can't help but smile at the mention of Erestor and his notes. She doesn't doubt for a moment the kind of things he'd included in the instructions either.]

Good. Now come and sit with me, we can enjoy it together.

[She even reaches a hand towards him in invitation.]

[ That makes him beam and he all but flings himself to the floor at her feet happily, all restless energy ]

I st... got us some hot tarts too - I was thinking that it was... almost harvest time. We should celebrate with apple tarts.

[It's impossible not to smile for him even with how tired and cold she still feels.]

Oh. It is about that time, isn't it? [Her heart clenches in her chest at the thought. About now, almost all of Imladris could smell the baked goods and feasts would be planned. She misses it.] What better way to celebrate, hm?

I think so. [ He nods, leaning fondly against her side and reaching up to nudge the tray at her ]

Seasons are a bit strange here, but it does seem about the right time. And you are feeling a bit better, so... I thought it would be good to share the reminder of home.

[ He sounds a little wistful, missing the other half of his heart, but that's okay. They knew it would hurt. It is worth it, to see their mother heal ]

[She smiles a little and picks up one of the tarts, biting into it with a contented sigh. It's not quite the same as at home but it's still good.]

You thought right, my sweet. [And then she pauses.] I'm so sorry, my darling. I'm selfish. I should never have let you come, you miss it.

[ Immediately he shakes his head in denial ]

No nana. I chose this - you could hardly have stopped me, either way. 'Course I miss home, but you know? You are home to me as well. It'll be okay.

I could have had your father and grandparents keep you behind. They would have done it for me had I asked. [She sighs softly, setting the tart down and sliding carefully from her chair to sit beside him, blanket still wrapped around her.]

And if I had stayed, Elrohir would have gone - we agreed, you should have one of us with you. [ He leans on her and wraps his arm around her in a hug ]

They would have had to tie us down to stop us.

I am sure that between your grandparents and your father, Glorfindel and Erestor as well if I had asked them, they could have kept you both. [She leans against him, closing her eyes briefly. It's still early in the day and she's already tired.]

Eh. We're good at escaping and Arwen would have helped. [ Yes, it was a conspiracy by all three kids ]

But I glad you let me come. 'Roh can keep an eye on Arwen & dad, and I will keep an eye on you.

[ He doesn't let go of the hug and leans back against her ]

Do you need to rest nana?

Would nothing have kept you home? [She laughs softly, still leaning against him.] It would have been terribly lonely without you, I admit.

[And then she's quiet for a bit. Almost long enough to think she'd fallen asleep.] Perhaps. I still tire so easily.

Hm let me think~ Nope! [ he even pops the 'p' and grins at her ]

Well. [ He conceeds ] If there had been good reason for us to stay [ if, for example, no one had noticed how angry they had been, so as to prevent them from going out hunting orcs almost from the day they brought her home... ] we might have done.

Mm, finish up the tart then? The tea'll be cold, else. And then you can have a nap and I will go and clean up the uh... evidence of my transgressions

[That isn't something she would have wanted for them. Her sweet boys with such a talent for mischief.] I am glad though that you could not be kept behind.

[She's so selfish.] I would hate to let the tea go to waste. Especially after your efforts. [She sighs softly and sits upright, taking a moment to rub lightly at her eyes before finishing the tart.]

Me too. [ He smiles and pours her a cup ]

Let me know if I made it right?

[She leans towards him again and presses a kiss to his cheek, giving the tea a moment or two so it can cool before trying it. It isn't the same as how Erestor does it but it's still good.]

It is wonderful. Thank you, sweetling.

[ He smiles, leaning against her fondly ]

Good! This way Erestor will not have reason to kill me when he finally comes! [ quieter ]

I am glad... we were able to keep this much of home. Do... you think, perhaps we should invite Granduncle Finarfin next time? [ it is the first time that he has even indicated he knows his relatives have any right of access to his mother ]

As if I would allow him to try. [She smiles, still leaning back against him.]

Hm, perhaps. He does love us and your grandmother did ask him to keep watch over us, in her letter, he said. [Reaching, Celebrían takes his hand and gives a light squeeze.] And I do have to grow comfortable with other people again.

He does. [ begrudgingly ] And this is his house. I suppose we should see how you cope. [ like a small child reluctant to share ]

[Another light squeeze to his hand, trying to reassure him. At least one of them should be comfortable with it. And if her son was, it would help her.] It will be alright. I have you with me.

[ He leans against her and huffs crossly ] If he upsets you, grandmother's father or not I am throwing him out.

[ He may be joking, but not entirely so ]

[She leans and kisses the top of his head.] I am not sure you could, my darling. I appreciate the thought though.

[After all, it is Finarfin's home and he is definitely stronger and more experienced than her son.]

He'll just have to follow then, won't he? 8D
