Reynir | SSSS | OTA

Okay mostly suspicious Finn is unsettled because he's sure he's seen this person before, or felt him anyway, and he hasn't quite figured out how he feels about that.
Don't mind him, he'll just be... staring at you creepily from a slight distance... ]

Would this be better or worse if he could talk to the
reallyslightly creepy Finn? Something about him makes Reynir uncomfortable, puts him on edge. There's an uneasy nagging feeling which really doesn't help.Maybe he should just... try and talk?]
Do you really not know any Icelandic? I thought everyone knew bits and pieces at least... but I guess Finland is really far away! Do you miss it a lot? [He smiles at Lalli hopefully. Well, if nothing else maybe he'll stop watching him and allow the hairs on the back of Reynir's neck to settle?]
no subject
Probably not.
Still, he just tilts his head pretty far to one side and doesn't say anything.
Reynir's braid is very long. Lalli kind of wants to touch it. ]

...Well, he could start from the beginning, couldn't he? He drops his hair to point to himself.] I'm Reynir.
no subject
It's not made easier by that he can't talk to him. Sure, he can't talk to Lalli either, but there is a difference between not being able to understand someone with whom he can communicate fairly well without words (or at least Emil thinks that he can) and someone who...
well
AWKWARD FIRST MEETINGS or at least ones that are awkward in retrospect
He's still mad that nobody told him that Reynir wasn't a prisoner.
And thus he finds himself in the morning, putting down Reynir's breakfast before him as he's been ordered to get that ready for everyone while the others are doing different things (sleeping, in Lalli's case).
And saying nothing.]

He blinks when a tray's placed in front of him, and looks up to see the blonde - did someone say that he was a Swede? Maybe. The small kindness is enough to let Reynir forget the language barrier, a smile catching his lips.] Thanks
no subject
[That actually wasn't hard to understand at all so he hopes that the reply gets through as well and...
And then he stands there awkwardly... and just... continues? To stand there.] Vi har te också om du vill ha det. ...Om man kan kalla det så.
Smaken är lite konstigt men man får rätta mun efter matsäcken. [He shrugs.] Finns ingenting annat här. Kanske inte före ... [He stops abruptly. No, he really doesn't want to think about how long it will take before he gets to drink proper tea again that doesn't taste like Mikkel sat on it.]
((Here you go.//We also have tea if you want. If you can call it that. The taste is a bit weird but you have to take what you can get. // There's no alternative. There probably won't be one before...))

And then Emil falls silent again, his words trailing off awkwardly, and Reynir realises that he was so busy listening to the lilt of the words that he forgot to try and think about what they actually could have meant.
Whoops.] I really don't know what you just said. But I guess you don't understand me either. [He sighs, and then pulls the tray towards him. He pokes at the porridge a bit with his spoon before realising that that must look a bit rude, so he fills the spoon up to try some.] Yum! [...Actually it's kind of hot but must not spit it out, got to swallow, must not wince as it goes all the way down wow this is the best impression he's making why did he ever leave home.]
no subject
grabbing that bowl and pulling it away from Reynir. But how to convey the message of how to eat porridge (do people in Iceland not have that? Do they have no warm food at all? He can't really imagine that being a thing, they must have everything- but he's not letting someone hurt himself on his watch. So he'll be gone for a bit before returning with a spoon of his own and demonstrate it.]
Look, you do it like this.
[Scoop up some, blow on it until it's cool enough to eat, eat. Only then does Reynir get his bowl back.]
no subject
...is he really being given a lecture on how to eat porridge? Well, he did kind of fuck it up, didn't he?] Thanks, mum. [He mutters, not quite looking at Emil.]
no subject
You know, I wonder what you eat over in Iceland. Can't be all that different from what we eat, but then if you don't know porridge that makes me wonder...
This is ridiculous. I can't talk to you, I can't talk to Lalli, and Mikkel is not intelligible half the time.
