"And you know, despite standing this close to you..." Felih comments, ears twitching. "I can't hear your heart beating." His smile's a bit wry. "Unless you've recently died, that is...? Maybe you haven't realized," he murmurs, quietly to himself, a small flash of pity in his eyes.
no subject
"I mean, I don't really remember much? I know that I'm Jackie, and I ...I have a family?"
no subject
"Your family, then. Perhaps if you remember something about them? It will lead us in a way to get you home," he offers. "Either way, you really ought to get onto Stormwind- that's the big green chocobo. I'll take you somewhere safe for now. The middle of the desert isn't safe for anyone."
no subject
So he gets on the chocobo, a bit awkwardly but easily enough, and waits for Felih to lead the way.
"I should be able to describe them well enough."
no subject
The chocobo is rather docile, kneeling down to let Jackie climb onto its back. It has little trouble carrying him even with the packs already strapped to its sides- it just lets out a cheery "kweh!" before it starts following and walking alongside the giant leopard Felih is riding on.
With a small wave of his hand, a small tri-tailed creature- a fox? A puppy? Some odd mix of the two?- springs into existence, glowing and trotting alongside the pair dutifully, sometimes darting off to chase away sandworms as they traveled.
"Well, if you're this lost, I should warn you. Eorzean wilds are vicious and dangerous- it's not good to wander around places alone if you're not armed." He looks Jackie over curiously. "You don't seem the fighting type, though..."
no subject
Fights are just a hassle, and he might have to fix his face yet again...
"I doubt I'm weak, but if there's no technique to back what strength you have up, that'd be pretty useless, wouldn't it?"
no subject
no subject
...But the guy was speaking of is aether... something like aura?
"I mean, I'm walking around and stuff. And I don't look dead I don't think." Unlike zombies.
He pauses, and, as if he only just noticed- "Though I'm not breathing. Past what I need to speak, I mean." Probably something the guy noticed anyway.
no subject
"Normally I would have to fell you, but seeing as you've still retained your sense of self, you're not as dangerous as the others would be. You're not feeling a craving for human meat, are you?" It's almost joking, with the small, wry smile on his lips.
He continues to lead, his coeurl walking just slightly ahead of the pastel-green chocobo that Jackie is riding on. "I can take you to the U at the Forgotten Springs, but if there's naught else you can remember, it'll be harder to figure out how best to help you."
no subject
"...I don't think anything about me changed recently? I mean, the way I am feels perfectly comfortable and usual, and if I'd recently died or something I feel like it should feel off or something?
So I guess if I don't have a heartbeat I haven't had one for a while. It doesn't feel wrong to not have one."
no subject
"There have been quite a few beings who seemed to be in control of themselves until their inevitable fate destroyed what was left of their minds. Those forcefully transformed into monsters and undead, for one. Still... for one to remain looking so alive while clearly dead... you don't mind if I study your aether a while, do you?"
Of course, at the moment they're still riding through the hot desert, but still.
no subject
He doesn't see how it would really cause an issue - he knows what his aura looks like because he's been told, and it's essentially like that of a human, just duller and less colourful, with no other outstanding features. But he also doesn't know if an aether is really an aura, and if this is some kind of invasive thing, he's absolutely against it.
no subject
"Anyways- what else do you remember of yourself? Are you interesting?" he jokes.
no subject
"...I don't know. I mean, I seem to have a pretty rad sense of fashion." (His fashion sense is atrocious. Don't be fooled. Absolutely atrocious.)
no subject
Up ahead in the distance, a settlement can be seen in an oasis- and in the center of which, is a massive, floating and spinning column of crystal wrapped in golden rings. "That's the aetheryte up ahead, makes it easy to spot. We'll get you some food- er. That is, if dead men eat. Do you even need water?"
He's trying not to show how uncomfortable he actually is- most times he's dealt with undead, things usually go south. Not every time, of course, but still, it has him... wondering, how one can walk and talk while being so clearly dead.
And why some men died and others did not.
no subject
He wants to say no very firmly, but it's not like he can bring up what he actually needs, and he's still pretending to be surprised about being dead.
So. He should probably not act like he has a detailed knowledge of his nutritious needs.
"And that looks pretty cool. Can you climb that? Or does it only look kinda solid from a distance? What is it? That thing there, in the middle of the place. Is that the aetheryte? So it's like... a collection of aethers?" He looks disturbed at that. "Does that mean they collect ghosts there, or something?"
no subject
Felih hums. "Well, at the very least, maybe we can figure out what to do with you. I wouldn't feel my best just leaving you alone to fend for yourself, but..."
no subject
You don't make those U sound like they're my best bet at figuring things out if it's hard to get them to be hospitable." Or that's what what Felih said sounded like to him, anyway.
no subject
no subject
...Maybe he should find a way to put forward that he's a vampire, not a zombie, but then who knows what the people here think about vampires...
"You're a Scion?" Considering that he said 'the others'. ...And what exactly would a Scion be...
"And I just want to go home, wherever that is, so if one of them can help me with that..."
no subject
He trails off and shrugs, but the slump of his shoulders afterwards carries the weight of defeat.
"Anyways, I'm sure one of them might be able to figure out where 'home' is for you. Maybe if Krile and Urianger work together. They're clever like that."
no subject
"But is there anything that you'd want to do me in return?" Things of that magnitude don't tend to come for free, after all.
no subject
"Do you remember aught at all?"
no subject
"Well, I know that ...I'm Jackie? And that I normally have a family, or something. But they aren't here.
And that nothing of this looks familiar at all. Things should be significantly different."
no subject
Stormwind, the green chocobo Jackie is riding, is unperturbed by the wildcat's vocalizations, just trooping along without a worry.
"I see... what do you mean by 'different'? Perhaps I'll recognize the land you're from. I've traveled all over," he explains, before they arrive at the gates of the Forgotten Springs.
All around are Miqo'te, presumably the U clan, and they wave at Felih and curiously examine Jackie but otherwise leave them be as they enter the clan grounds, walking towards one of the many large tents. "Here, this way. It's a healing tent, but unless someone got hurt hunting, it's usually empty. I'll check on you here. Do you need anything? Water? Food?" he asks. He's really not sure about the logistics of how a dead man keeps walking, but... well.
