Obviously not, not when no one does. Not my people, or yours or you or anyone else. [Impatiently, rather than rudely. Why is Sweden not telling him everything! Never mind that finland has 't done a very good job of answering Sweden's questions so far.[]

I guess Denmark knows the most of all of us, but I barely get the chance to see him these days.
scares: (Ah?)

[personal profile] scares 2015-04-20 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Why did y' forget?

[Sure enough, there are zombies coming around the corner in the distance, but he's too shocked by a nation forgetting their past that completely to notice.]

[personal profile] distantforest 2015-04-20 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose survival became more important than preserving the past. We've lost most of it, anyway, and the cities from before are really dangerous now because of the trolls. A few books survived, and some of the useful technology, but is it really surprising I can't remember more than the sum of my people's knowledge?

[It's been a long time since something managed to sneak up on Finland, though. As he finishes speaking, he turns a little and lifts his rifle, shooting past Sweden's side with deadly accuracy. The shot rings out, and before the echoes have even faded he's reloaded and aiming again. Two down.]
scares: (too cute to handle)

[personal profile] scares 2015-04-20 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Reflexes of many years of standing beside Finland in battle don't die easily, not even in a strange world like this, and when Finland turns to shoot he follows suit before his brain even kicks in.

It doesn't take them long to finish off the attackers, and after a long moment of waiting to make sure that they truly got all of them, Sweden lowers his arm and frowns at the gun to check if it needs to be reloaded. Half full still.]

...y' remember me.

[And he's incredibly thankful for that.]

[personal profile] distantforest 2015-04-21 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Reloading his gun as he scans the ground, Finland holds his position for a little longer, before relaxing somewhat. He doesn't put his gun back over his shoulder yet, though, too weary for that.]

Why would I forget you when you live next to me? [The tone to Sweden's voice makes him glance at him again, though. As a second thought, he smiles, fondly. It obviously means a lot to him, and if that's the case then Finland's glad that he remembered.]
scares: (I'll just cook tea)

[personal profile] scares 2015-04-21 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Because y' forgot so much.

[...Okay sorry Finland you're getting another hug. He's keeping an eye on their surroundings this time but. He just isn't sure what he'd have done if Finland in some far away future would forget him.]

[personal profile] distantforest 2015-04-22 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
How much? [His frown returns, staring at Sweden. Was there really so much? He knows that there are holes in his memories; they're pretty obvious, and he knows there must have been a past that he's forgotten, but how much?]
scares: (what should I say)

[personal profile] scares 2015-04-22 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[That is a difficult question when he doesn't know what Finland does know.] Whom do y' know? [As in, what other nations?] 'nd y' are many centuries old.

[personal profile] distantforest 2015-04-22 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
It's 90 years since the virus stuck. Before that... [Finland shrugs. But centuries? Really? He shouldn't really be surprised, not with all of the technology they had, but it's still weird to think of how much he might have lost.

To hide his thoughts about it, he crouches down and pulls a pencil out of his pocket so he can draw a map on the flat surface of a stone. He cross hatches out the silent world, before moving side so Sweden can see.
] Eesti lives with me, but that's it. I know there were others, I can remember, sort of, but I couldn't map them out.
scares: (considering this)

[personal profile] scares 2015-04-22 12:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[There is a long moment of schocked silence (and this is Sweden, it's a pretty long moment) before he, after a quick glance at their surroundings, slowly crouches down and starts to sketch.

A large sketch of all the continents, briefly naming them verbally, and then a larger sketch of just Europe and a rough estimate of the borders around the end of the 17th century.

He'll point at the rough areas that each name denotes as he speaks.]
Den. Nor 'nd Ice live with him. Me. Y' and Estonia and Latvia l've with me. Russia's here. Poland, Lithuania. France - Prussia, Bavaria, Saxony, France. Spain, Port, Italy ...there's two. Switzerland. Greece lives with Turkey. ...England, Ireland's with him, Scot 'nd Wales. ...Netherlands, Belgium. [He's certain that he wasn't complete, but the sketch is rough as well - it is only meant to give an idea, anyway.]

[personal profile] distantforest 2015-04-22 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[While Sweden sketches, Finland alternates between watching him and keeping an eye out. But it's fascinating as the map expands, and despite himself he starts paying more and more attention to it.]

There's so many of them... [So many Nations that he must have known, all swallowed up by the course of the virus.] I can't imagine Iceland living with anyone, though. When I've met him he's been so... aloof. Like Norway, but more independent. There's so many people living together. And why are there two Italies?
scares: (wow what is that)

[personal profile] scares 2015-04-22 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
History. [Said with a shrug - it's really complicated.]

...Den and Nor let Ice go? [That's something that he really wouldn't have expected. Not that Iceland belongs to Denmark, but it wouldn't be Norway's decision only.]

[personal profile] distantforest 2015-04-22 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Laughing, Finland shakes his head.] Iceland's an island! He shut off his borders for years and years and the virus never even touched him. He has so much technology still - phone lines everywhere and electricity that doesn't cut out and cars and radios! They didn't let him go, he let us back in, and helped us out a little bit. [Eventually.]
scares: (Ah?)

[personal profile] scares 2015-04-22 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
...

[Wow.]

He's Nor's baby brother. [Kind of all of theirs, really. Also all you future people and your crazy future things.]

[personal profile] distantforest 2015-04-22 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Finland laughs.] Well, he's not a baby any more. Everyone has to grow up sometime, right?
scares: (too cute to handle)

[personal profile] scares 2015-04-22 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Age doesn't matter th're. [He'll be Nor's baby brother when he is fifteen thousand years old.

Or so they all thought, but it almost seems like they were wrong.]

...y' grew up well. [His ears might have gained just a hint of colour while he deliberated if he should say that, and a bit more still when he did.]

[personal profile] distantforest 2015-04-23 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Tilting his head, Finland looks at Sweden, wondering if that is a blush or not.] Do you think so? Have I grown up much?

... You still haven't told me when you're from! Or anything about the world before the virus! [So easily distracted. TELL HIM THINGS.]
scares: (thinking hard)

[personal profile] scares 2015-04-23 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
Y' have. [Shhhhhhh totally not why would he

He's also looking very intensely at the surroundings now.]
1660.

'm just got out of a war.

[personal profile] distantforest 2015-04-23 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Finland pauses and then sighs deeply.

I wish I knew how long ago that was.

I can't imagine having the time and resources to fight someone else. It sounds so horrible. Who were you fighting with?
scares: (wow what is that)

[personal profile] scares 2015-04-23 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
Den.

...Mostly. [And his allies.] 'sn't unusual. W' fight a lot.

[personal profile] distantforest 2015-04-23 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
That's awful! Why would you want to fight your brother? [Finland can't help but take a step back, looking up at Sweden.]

I mean, little fights, personal ones, that's different, no one gets killed then, but to go to war... [He shudders. Suddenly he's glad he doesn't remember so much. Maybe he went to war once.

Which leads him to a horrible thought.
] I never fought you?
scares: (I'll just cook tea)

[personal profile] scares 2015-04-23 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Because Den's loud 'nd always wants t' be the boss and take m' land. [This may not actually be an accurate description of the situation. Or at least a very incomplete one.

OH GOD FIN THOUGH COULD YOU

NOT

this is seriously awkward.]

Only k'nd of. Y' live with m'.

[personal profile] distantforest 2015-04-23 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
He is loud, but that's not a good reason to fight him! [A pause, before he adds,] Or bring his people into it, anyway.

I don't understand why I'd be living with you, though. I have my own lands and people!
scares: (thinking hard)

[personal profile] scares 2015-04-23 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
We're nations. Our fights 're those of our people.

Power. [That technically answers all, but it's a lot more complicated when describing it to someone who seems to not get war as a principle, or international politics.] 'nd y' weren't strong enough t' be independent. 'm wanted y' with me rather than leave y' to Russia.

[personal profile] distantforest 2015-04-27 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Finland taps his foot and tugs on his jacket as he considers this, staring back out across the horizon. He's not sure he's comfortable with this.]

Was this really how things were? [He doesn't realise he's spoken out loud for a moment, and when he does he glances at Sweden, slightly embarrassed, but also determined not to take the question back.]

Still. Tell me about the other Nations. And the rest of the world! [Okay, maybe slightly moving the subject on, but shh.]
