once upon a time like two years ago there was a dumbass kid with a heck of a case of the genders who decided to start going by fae pronouns and then a few weeks later Something Weird noticed faer and decided fae would make a cool science experiment
I mean except that the gentry are fundamentally incapable of science but she thought she was doing science and it's a bad idea to argue with the gentry
so she grabs the kid and makes a replacement out of like random garbage and apparently a jar of hair dye so the kid's family won't notice faes missing. glamours it up to look like the kid and gives it a shred of the kid's shadow for a soul
then she hauls the kid off through the hedge to Arcadia where it decides the fae nouns were a poor life choice and then it spends like nine years hiding in the back of the Lady's archive trying to avoid her bc when she remembers it exists bad shit happens
by the time it makes it out and finds its way through the hedge back to the mortal world its been mystically warped into a creature of darkness and stealth and it's really nonplussed to discover that it's only been a year and a day back home and the teenage trash copy of it has made a complete mess of its social media accounts
